Council & Committees

The public is invited to all meetings of the Council and its committees. Meeting dates/agendas are posted on the State’s Public Calendar here.

A summary of each standing committee is below. This link provides a more detailed explanation of the expectations for each committee.

DAPE Council meets on the second Wednesday of each month. Meetings are currently being held in hybrid format via Zoom and in-person.

There are ten standing committees established by the bylaws, with specific assigned tasks. Additionally, the President of Council may appoint Ad-Hoc Committees to consider specific issues. Chairs of committees must be Council members and are appointed by the President of Council. DAPE members are encouraged to participate in DAPE activities by volunteering their service on committees.

The Executive Committee is comprised of the DAPE officers. This committee meets monthly prior to the Council meetings to discuss agenda items, determine policy for consideration of Council, and is responsible for the management of Association property.

The Examining Committee is responsible for reviewing the credentials of applicants for licensing and administers pencil and paper exams. A significant portion of the meetings are held in Executive Session on the last Wednesday of each month to review applicant credentials for licensure and other topics are discussed in Open Session.

The Law Enforcement/Ethics Committee is responsible for investigating any written or oral complaints and provides recommendations to Council for action. A majority of meetings are held in Executive Session on the first Wednesday of each month to discuss current investigations in enforcement matters and all other topics are discussed in Open Session.

The External Affairs Committee works with organizations, agencies, or groups other than professional engineers in the interest of the profession.

The Employee Compensation and Benefits Committee reviews employee job descriptions and employee evaluations annually.

The Facilities Committee is responsible for the equipment and services of the DAPE office.

The Finance Committee oversees and prepares the annual audit to ensure the financial well-being of the organization; studying and reporting to the Council on fees, and ensuring sufficient bonding and insurance levels are maintained.

The Government Affairs/Bylaws Committee serves as the liaison with the government and is also tasked with reviewing and proposing revisions to the association bylaws/laws.

The Public Information Committee is primarily responsible for the publication of “DAPE News,” reporting council actions to the membership of DAPE and helping educate the public on DAPE and the engineering profession.

The Nominating Committee nominates sufficient consenting members of the Association to complete the ballot for council seats if petitions are not received for all seats. The President of the DAPE council appoints the Chair of this Committee is not contested in a council election.
